Guidelines for Lectors

All lectors: Reading scripture is done from the Ambo. The Responsorial Psalm is sung from the Cantor Stand.

• Lector #1 will process in with the presider at the beginning of Mass. The procession will begin at the Baptismal Font and proceed down the side aisle behind the choir to the center aisle and down to the altar. After the presider bows, Lector #1 should put the Book of the Gospels in the holder on the altar (from the front of the altar) and go to his/her seat.


• Lector #1 will bow to the altar before going to the Ambo to read. After reading, Lector #1 will meet the Cantor at the altar, bow, and return to his/her seat.


• Lector #2 will bow and go to the Ambo to read. After reading, Lector #2 will go to the altar, bow, and return to his/her seat.


• Lector #2 will read the Call to Worship and announcements from the Cantor Stand.


• Lector #1 will read the petitions from the Cantor Stand.
