Nurturing Your Spirit Retreat

Jerry and I want to thank everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to attend the Nurturing Your Spirit retreat May 22nd at the Milford Jesuit Spirit Center. It was a great day filled with prayer, reflection, group sharing, and some much needed quiet time with the Lord. Al Cuchetti’s energy and passion shone brightly as he engaged and challenged us to return to center and focus on relationship and holiness.

I think of the quote by Albert Einstein “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again yet expecting a different outcome.” This is not unlike the Fig Tree who spun her wheels to be an Apple Tree, took all of the college courses to be a Pear Tree, engaged in home correspondence courses to be a Banana Tree, Hybrid Tree, Traveling Tree, etc. Yet from these efforts only frustration and fruits of failure grew on her. So we too yield insanity, frustration, and fruits of failure when we live to be other than who we were created to be. Our “Gardener” amply challenges us to “Be creative in the truest way by living out the mystery of our ‘figtreeness’. We then become not only something special but also something sacred. By responding to the challenge to become ourselves we will find ourselves in the presence of the real mystery – God. However, both life and God will escape us if we attempt to be what we are not intended to be.”

Continue playing in the familiar song, “Rhythm” (www.Nooma.com) and “connect with something that has been in place since the beginning of time – to live in tune with the life God has planned for us.” Spread the religion of the Rhythm of Life!

Come, Holy Spirit!

Blessings,
