Baptismal Preparation

Parents prepare for the sacrament of Baptism by focusing on their role in bringing their child for initiation into the Church. We focus on parents' commitment to teach the faith and guide their child on the lifelong spiritual journey. The history and theology of baptism are covered in the class as well as having parents reflect on their own faith journey through discussion and exercises. The goal of our class is to deepen the parents' understanding of and participation in the sacrament, enabling them to more fully accompany their child on their journey of faith. The Baptismal Preparation is for parents preparing for a child's Baptism that are new SMOY parishioners and/or have not completed sacramental preparations within the past two years. Godparents are welcome, but not required.
